Day 1: Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Sanctuary, BotswanaYour Botswana camping safari departs Johannesburg at 06:30am and heads north into Botswana and the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This reserve is situated on the Kalahari sandveld and boasts numerous waterholes frequented by White Rhino, Zebra and Wildebeest.
The Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust is a community based wildlife initiative established in 1992 and helps in saving the endangered Rhino and restoring the area into its former glory. This project also provides economic benefits to the local Botswana community through tourism and sustainable use of natural resources. Lunch and dinner is included. |
Day 2: Maun, BotswanaToday you drive through the central Kalahari to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Maun is a bustling town situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River. After setting up your camp for the night, you enjoy a lovely afternoon of swimming and relaxing. Breakfast and lunch is included. |
Days 3 - 5: Okavango Delta, BotswanaToday your local guides will take you deep into the heart of the Okavango Delta in mokoros (dug out canoe). The Delta is home to an abundance of wildlife including Red Lechwe, Sitatunga, Elephant, Wild Dog, Buffalo, Lion and many other mammal and bird species.
You will camp wild for the night on a remote island teeming with wildlife. Here you can enjoy game walks, bird watching, learning about the local culture and swimming. You return to Maun on day 5 of your Botswana camping safari in the late afternoon for an optional game flight over the Okavango. Breakfast and lunch included for 3 days and dinner included for 2 days. |
Days 6 & 7: Moremi Game Reserve, BotswanaMoremi Game Reserve is one of the leading wildlife areas of the world and game viewing in this area proves breathtaking. The grasslands, floodplains, forests, lily lagoons and winding water channels combine to form a variety of game viewing habitats. Here you will spend 2 exciting days on game drives in search of Wild Dog, Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Lion and other game. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Days 8 & 9: Savuti, BotswanaToday your Botswana adventure tour moves north over the sand ridge and into the Mababe depression to the Savuti Marsh, an open grassland area attracting herds of Zebra and Wildebeest. These game in turn attracts the large Lion prides Savuti is renowned for.
You will spend 2 nights in this area, exploring the various habitats. You will also be afforded great views of the active waterhole, a favourite drinking spot for thirsty Elephant. Don't forget is catch the awesome African sunset. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Days 10 & 11: Chobe National Park, BotswanaThe Chobe River flows along the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, which attracts some of the largest herds of Elephant in Africa. You wake up early for a chance to search for game, returning to camp for a hearty brunch.
The highlight of the day is a late afternoon game viewing sundowner cruise. Sip delicious cocktails while watching the majestic Elephant overshadowed only by the glow of the setting sun. On day 11 you will spend the night at a camp in Kasane. Breakfast and lunch is included for 2 nights and dinner for one night. |
Days 12 & 13: Victoria Falls/Livingstone, ZambiaYou will spend the next 2 nights in Zambia near Livingstone on the banks of the Zambezi River. Enjoy a memorable walk through the tropical vegetation of the area to the edge of the 'Mosi oa Tunya' or the Victoria Falls. Guests will also have opportunities to white water raft on the mighty Zambezi River, bungi jump or take the scenic 'flight of angels' (own expense). Breakfast is included. |
Day 14: Livingstone, ZambiaToday you enjoy a delicious breakfast before your Botswana adventure tour ends at 08:00am. Transfers to the local airports can be arranged. Breakfast is included.
Please Note: Flights are available from Livingstone to Johannesburg or you can take a free transit return to Johannesburg with the tour vehicle (all meals and accommodation at your own expense).

Accommodation:Camping for 6 nights in designated campsites in national parks, private land or towns. Campsite facilities are good but basic with hot and cold showers, restaurants, washing facilities and telephone available Wild camping for 7 nights while in the Okavango Delta, Moremi, Savuti and Chobe. Wild camps offer no facilities, and the tour will need to take its own water and all equipment. Toilets are of the 'dig and bury' variety |
Transport:On foot: There are easy to moderate walks available throughout your Botswana camping safari, in the Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi. The duration of the walks are between a half and hour to 4 hours.
Mokoro: In the Okavango you make use of mokoros poled by local guides.
Open game drives: This is used during game viewing activities in Moremi Game Reserve, Savuti and Chobe National Parks. These vehicles boast canvas roofs and sides, rolled up whenever possible to allow the best game viewing experience.
Vehicle: Custom built safari trucks are used for longer distance travel and are ideal for game viewing. A Toyota Hiace may also be used with 10 forward facing seats. |
Difficulty:This Botswana adventure tour should appeal to anyone who is generally active and in good health. Campsites are simple and basic and wild camps will be enjoyed by outdoor lovers. This is a participation camp so guests are expected to clean up after themselves and help to keep the camp is in clean and hygienic condition. |
