Day 1: Cederberg Mountain Region, South AfricaYou depart Cape Town heading north for the Cederberg Mountain region. This area is one of the main Rooibos Tea growing areas and also offers a variety of outdoor activities. On this first afternoon you spend some time learning about tour-life, the vehicle and equipment. Lunch and Dinner. Day 2: Namaqualand – Gariep RiverYou travel north through Namaqualand and head for the Gariep River. The night is spent around the campfire, getting to know one another. The Orange/Gariep River forms the border of South Africa and Namibia and is used widely for agricultural irrigation in this arid area. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Day 3: Fish River Canyon, NamibiaChoose between a relaxing morning on the riverbank or the half-day Canoe adventure. Alternatively, spend your time swimming, watching birds and investigating the interesting geographical features that are unique to the Richtersveld area.
After lunch you travel north to the Fish River Canyon, the second largest in the world. Enjoy optional activities such as, Orange River Half Day Canoe Adventure. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Day 4: Namib-Naukluft National Park, NamibiaFrom the canyon you continue on into the remote Namibian hinterland. You arrive at Sesriem Camp in the afternoon and have time to go for a walk in to the smaller Sesriem Canyon. This is an excellent night to sleep out under the stars, beside the fire, surrounded by the shifting dunes and desert silence. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.Day 5: Sossusvlei Dunes / Namib-Naukluft National ParkTaking advantage of the cooler temperatures you depart at dawn and drive into the Namib-Naukluft National Park where you will hike up Dune 45 to gain a different perspective of the desert.
You leave the truck at the 2x4 parking area where you have the option to go on a guided walk with a local expert on the area, or hike into Sossusvlei with some of the other group members. Enjoy optional activities such as, Guided walk with Local Expert. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. |
