The Kalahari Desert has the highest variety of species and is home to many unique desert-adapted species such as Brown Hyena and Zebras.
Oryx
The Oryx antelope (also known as Gemsbok), thrives in the most arid areas. It survives by absorbing heat and allowing its body temperature to reach 40ºC. This saves up to 0.5 litres of water per day, which would otherwise be lost as sweat.
