Day 1: PendukaMeet the group at Windhoek International Airport or at a guesthouse in Windhoek, where you will commence your African safari. Drive westwards descending the Spreetshoogte Pass to Solitaire.
Take in the breathtaking views deep into the lower lying Namibian plains on your African safari. You will arrive at Sesriem camp situated on the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park. You will overnight at Sesriem Campsite. |
Day 2: Sesriem, NamibiaA early morning visit to some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei, the highest of which has been measured from its base as being 325m. These star-shaped dunes where formed by strong multi-directional winds, and are at the highest and most spectacular where the west-flowing Tsauchab River empties itself into the vlei.
Visit the Sesriem canyon in the afternoon on your African safari. Centuries of erosion have incised a narrow gorge about 1 kilometre in length. The gorge plunges 30m to 40m down and at the foot, pools can be found that become replenished after good rains.
Sesriem derives its name from the time when early pioneers tied 6 lengths of rawhide thongs together to draw water from the pools. You will overnight at Sesriem Campsite. |
Day 3: Namib Naukluft Park - Swakopmund, NamibiaYou will drive through the Namib Naukluft Park. Observe the rich diversity of desert adapted fauna and flora, including the Welwitschia Plant on your African safari. You will reach the quaint town of Swakopmund. Swakopmund is known as Namibia’s seaside resort on the West Coast and is a place of singular charm. It resembles a small Bavarian village nestled between the desert and the sea.
Swakopmund has a relaxing atmosphere with promenades, palm trees and beautifully tended public gardens. The camp is set up near Swakopmund. Now is your time to relax and enjoy a campfire dinner. You will overnight in Swakopmund. |
Day 4: Swakopmund, NamibiaAn early start to the day to make the most of the various options available in the coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. In the morning you will drive to Walvis Bay to see the bird life, Flamingos and Pelicans in the Harbour.
An optional boat cruise gives you the chance to see the Cape Fur Seals, Bottlenose and Heavy Side Dolphins on your African safari. In the afternoon you can the Swakopmund Museum, the rug making industry and other places of interest. Or you can drive up the spectacular Swakop River.
