This tour leads you from Cederberg Mountains in the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, to Fish River Canyon and Swakopmund in Namibia. Watch the sunrise from the top of the magnificent Sossusvlei Dunes or sip a sundowner at the edge of the imposing natural wonder, the Fish River Canyon. Take pleasure in a scenic drive through the arid Namib Naukluft to your final destination, Swakopmund. The nights you will spend at Camps or Hostels.

Day 1: Cederberg Mountains, Western Cape, South AfricaYou depart Cape Town heading north for the Cederberg Mountain region, which is famous for Rooibos tea. This area offers a variety of outdoor activities. On this first afternoon you spend some time learning about tour-life, the vehicle and equipment. Lunch, Dinner included. |
Day 2: Namaqualand, Northern Cape, South AfricaYou travel north through Namaqualand and head for the Orange / Gariep River. The night is spent on the banks of the river, sitting around the campfire, getting to know one another. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. |
Day 3: Gariep (Orange) River, South AfricaIn the morning you have the opportunity to experience the Gariep River by canoe. Choose between a relaxing morning on the riverbank or the Half-Day Canoe adventure. After lunch you travel north to the Ai-Ais Hot Springs where you spend an enjoyable afternoon in the warm waters. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure. |
Day 4: Fish River Canyon, NamibiaAfter an early breakfast your journey takes you to the mighty Fish River Canyon where there will be ample possibility to take some spectacular pictures of the second largest Canyon in the world. After visiting the Canyon you travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia.
On the way you will make a short stop near Keetmanshoop to visit the Kokerboom (Quiver Tree) Forest – fantastic for photography! Tomorrow you will have the option to go on a game drive and meet the local ‘bushman’ community. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. |
Day 5: Bushmen / Namib Naukluft National Park, NamibiaThis morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung will have the chance to do so. This activity is a local community project and all fees are payable directly to the community. Those who choose not to participate can spend a leisurely morning on short hikes in the desert, or sleeping in. Later you drive west towards Sossusvlei and enter the Namib region. Optional Activities: Kung Bushman Excursion. Breakfast, Lunch, Supper. |

Dunes at sossusvlei are also reputed to be the highest sand dunes in the world. The view from the top of a dune will remain in your mind forever.

Swakopmund Namibia
|
The town's German architecture harks back to the 1800's. At that time the port was not sufficiently deep and boats had to unload out at sea. Today, this luxury sea-side resort is as much appreciated by the inhabitants as by travelers.
