What you can expect from this 12 Day Canyon and Desert Deluxe. Cape Town to Windhoek:

Your journey begins at Africa’s southern gateway. Gaze at the spectacle that greeted the early explorers, as Table Mountain appears to rise from the sea. A stunning setting for a very special city. Explore the ghostly deserts of Namibia, nothing but endless horizons and vast expanses of night stars. Go where giant sand dunes merge with the Atlantic Ocean. Go on safari at Waterberg and Etosha National Parks, Etosha is known as “the place of dry water”, and fireside tales will be of lion, rhino, elephant and much more.


Day 1: Cape Town

Day at leisure in Cape Town to enjoy the many optional attractions and activities available in this magnificent city. Optional activities include tours to Robben Island, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the many wine estates of Paarl, Franschoek and Stellenbosch.

Day 2: Lamberts Bay

Departing after breakfast, you head up the West Coast past the West Coast National Park to Lamberts Bay, an attractive fishing town on an un-spoilt stretch of coastline. Particularly spectacular in spring, when the masses of wild flowers bloom, turning the entire region into a yellow, red and orange maze. Overnight at Lamberts Bay Hotel or similar. Breakfast.

Days 3 & 4: The Fish River Canyon

Your first border crossing is into Namibia on day 3 as you head for the awesome Fish River Canyon. Your guides will assist with all border formalities. You spend the night at Ai Ais Hot Springs Resort, which is run by Namibia Wildlife Resorts.

There is a restaurant, small shop which only stocks basics and a swimming pool for relaxation. There will be ample time to take in beautiful sights of the canyon, or partake in an optional walk. Breakfast and lunch.

Days 5 & 6: The Namib Naukluft National Park

You continue on to The Namib Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes of Sossusvlei. This is one of the world’s oldest deserts, offering over 130 million years of natural wonder, and the highest sand dunes in the world!  Adventure activities abound, including guided walks, hot air ballooning and light aircraft flights.

On day 6 you leave early in the morning and enter into the park. You head for Dune 45 and climb the dune for a stunning aerial view over the dunes, after which you proceed to Sossusvlei and the 2x4 parking area. From here it is an approximate 5 km walk to the vlei where you are free to explore.  Stunning photographic opportunities are available in the dunes.

On your return to your lodge you’ll stop off at the Sesriem canyon. Back at your lodge, there is a small swimming pool if you wish to relax and soak up the sun. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 5 – breakfast and lunch on day 6.
