Day 1: WindhoekThe day is spent at leisure. You meet your guide at the reception of the hotel for a briefing at +-18h00 (Dinner own arrangements). Hotel Safari (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis). Days 2 & 3: Sesriem / Sossusvlei - Namib DesertYour journey takes you through the Namib Desert, a great wilderness, a vast, solitary place, harsh and primeval, the oldest desert on earth. The gigantic 275m high red and grey dunes are the highest in the world.The Namib Desert is extraordinary with over 200 species of Beetles, Scorpions, Spiders, Gecko, Chameleons, Crickets, Wasps, Lizards, Moles, Side-winder snakes, snake-eating Eagles and Jackals. Most of the creatures and plants depend on the mist from the Atlantic Ocean for survival.
You enjoy a sunset walk in the dunes surrounding our camp. The following morning is an early departure for Sossusvlei, stopping in the dune belt to witness the changing colours of the world’s highest sand dunes. You undertake a 5km walk to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. In the afternoon you enjoy a short hike through the Sesriem Canyon. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Day 4: SwakopmundHeading north you reach the coast at Walvis Bay, and enjoy lunch while viewing the many flamingos feeding. You arrive in Swakopmund and spend the afternoon exploring this German colonial town or booking one of the numerous optional excursions (own expense) for the following day.
Activities available include sandboarding, quad biking, skydiving, kayaking, hot air ballooning or scenic flights over the vast Namib Desert. Dinner is enjoyed at a local restaurant (own expense). Accommodation in bungalows or guest-house. Breakfast and Lunch. Day 5: SpitzkoppeThe morning is spent at leisure enjoying the town of Swakopmund or the various activities on offer. Departing after lunch, we head north and set up camp among the boulders of the Spitzkoppe Mountains. The spectacular setting of our remote bushcamp is sure to leave a lasting impression. Breakfast and Dinner. Day 6: Damaraland / TwyfelfonteinYou drive inland through the Damaraland region with its vast and rugged terrain. Its mountain ranges are intercepted by wide gravel plains, which run into sandy, vegetated riverbeds and hot, dry valleys. You visit the Twyfelfontein area for walks to the bushmen paintings/ rock engravings as well as the Organ Pipes. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. |
